Their
comments about the projects
Our
Patron, The Lord Ouseley, says:
"Yet
again the Lambeth Summer Projects have engaged large
numbers of children and young people in being productive,
creative and active during the long summer school
holidays. The whole experience was truly inspirational
for all those involved. The staff and volunteers
were magnificent; the participants were willing
and energetic and the parents were so enthusiastic
about the programmes on offer that they are hoping
for even more of the same in 2008. Congratulations
to all involved. It is a pleasure to be Patron of
these wonderful projects."
Kate
Hoey, MP and Rt.
Hon. Keith Hill MP:
The LSPT
acknowledges the enthusiastic and dedicated ongoing
support of our local MP's Kate Hoey and the Rt.
Hon. Keith Hill.
Their commitment
to the Projects has spanned many years and was recently
reflected through them both co-hosting the official
reception to mark the Twentieth Anniversary of the
Projects, at Portcullis House, part of the Palace
of Westminster , on 10 December 2007 .
Chief
Superintendent Sharon Rowe says:
"I
had only been on the Borough for one month and I
was determined to see what the Lambeth Summer Projects
were all about. I had heard of the fantastic partnership
work which had been taking place between various
organisations, including the Metropolitan Police
Service, and I wanted to see it first hand.
From visiting
the summer projects in Brixton and Clapham &
Kennington I discovered that positive youth engagement
was taking place. The summer projects offer Lambeth
young people safe environments across the Borough
in which to socialise during the summer holidays,
where they are able to learn new skills and take
part in a wide range of activities.
Engaging
with the young people of Lambeth is important as
they are the future of the Borough. The Lambeth
Summer Projects Trust and Police partnership has
been in place for twenty years and has proven very
effective in engaging with Lambeth's young people
and establishing strong relationships."
